Meet the gang...
Amanda Buchanan
Amanda began her career as a social worker in an effort to create balance by approaching life holistically. As she continued to practice yoga, she realized that the integration of this practice into her social work practice would benefit her clients by presenting them with tools to further assist them in obtaining personal wellness outside of the confines of an office. She obtained her teacher training at Living Yoga Program in Austin, Texas and went on to become a Reiki Master. Since receiving her Reiki Master training, she has trained other social workers and those in the helping professions to use this work in order to increase the effectiveness of their practice and personal life by learning to tune into not only their client’s and associate’s needs, but their own needs from a physical, emotional and spiritual sense. Currently, she is working at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office co-spearheading a mental health and addiction program which focuses on the whole individual—mind, body, spirit—while providing clients with applicable tools such as yoga to assist participants in tuning into their own bodies. Amanda joined our staff in June 2008.

Amanda’s Vata Practice
Wednesday nights with Amanda have become a mid-week sanctuary for many. Her approach to a Vata practice eases practitioners into the Vinyasa/ flow style class without all the adrenaline a typical Vata class can stimulate. In addition, her selfless service and dedication to assisting each practitioner individually creates a very personal experience in her class.

Amanda’s pre & Postnatal Practice
As a Certified and Licensed Master of Social Work and Reiki Master, Amanda lends her listening ear and nurturing disposition to facilitate a supportive group environment. Her natal programs, conducted in a calm and peaceful environment, offer a safe, open gathering allowing you to freely discuss any issue- from physical aches and pains to concerns and excitement about the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing. The class will also provide a reliable source to receive and give inspiration, information and resources. With this in mind, we look to create a community where moms can connect and friendship can grow!
