Rachel Layne

Rachel’s first yoga practice began in 2004. In her school years she was very active and participated in basketball, softball, gymnastics, dancing and was even a cheerleader in junior high. However, after her years of school she felt depressed, unmotivated, and felt something was missing from her life. It was then that she found yoga. Soon after her first class Rachel felt the amazing benefits of a yoga practice: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In 2007 Rachel went to study at The Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, where she was very blessed to work in a community environment supporting all aspects of yoga including Bhakti, Karma, Nada and Hatha Yoga. After returning to Nashville in 2008, Rachel completed a 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training program.  Soon she began leading this special class entitled "Yoga for Runners" showcasing a specific sequence of poses that focuses on the special needs of runners. As a runner herself, Rachel knows how stressful the activity can be on your joints, ligaments, tendons and muscle fibers. Yoga helps rebuild the connective tissues and generate fluid in your synovial joints preventing injury and ridding the body of pain in knees, hips, lower back and ankles. Rachel thinks of yoga as a "gift" that was given to her and it is her Dharmic Path to teach yoga and spread the message to others about this spiritual practice. In her free time Rachel enjoys Karma yoga, the yoga of action, Kirtan, Nada Yoga, sewing, and she also leads yoga for runners classes at the Gilda's Club in Nashville, Tennessee.

Rachel’s Rise & Shine Practice
As the night washed away and just before the sun rises the earth is still. The great yogis before have taught us that this is the perfect time for our yoga practice. We call it the ambrosial hours. Rachel, a fellow early riser, will guide you through this deeply therapeutic practice to help start your day right. Expect minimal instruction paired with candlelight and sacrd music to evoke harmony and relaxation.

Rachel’s Pitta Practice
Walk into Rachel’s class and you just feel good. Her warm smile and laid back demeanor can calm the senses instantly- even when she’s pushing you through such challenging poses as Virabhadrasana (aka Warrior).  Her classes are well structured with careful attention to energy displacement and alignment. Yet it all feels so effortless. And with a deep silent savasana at the end of each practice how could it be anything less?
